Forage harvester sourcing, from crop brief to factory quotes

Verdant Link Sourcing is an independent sourcing partner for business buyers. Define your crop, harvesting window and equipment scope so manufacturers can quote a comparable request.

Resource claims need equipment-specific documents

  • Fuel test conditions
  • Cleaning water basis
  • Engine identification
  • Parts traceability

A badge is not a harvesting specification. Request the evidence applicable to the exact offered configuration. Irrigation water labels do not establish a forage machine's efficiency, and no certification is claimed by this sourcing service.

Separate the machine request from the parts request

Self propelled forage machine inquiry option

Self propelled harvesting

Record engine power in hp or kW, header working width in m, crop type and throughput basis in t/h. Keep transport wagons, kernel processing, spout controls and commissioning separate in the quote schedule. A headline capacity without moisture and crop conditions cannot settle the selection.

Parts and pull type options

For replacement components, identify the host machine, serial range, part drawing and quantity per set. For a pull type unit, add available PTO horsepower, shaft speed, hitch arrangement and hydraulic connections. Review the inquiry catalog without treating a catalog name as confirmation of fit or stock.

Four field contexts to put in the brief

Dairy silage

State crop moisture, chop requirement and the feed handling route.

Custom harvesting

Include field access, travel between farms and daily work windows.

Grass forage

Identify pickup width, windrow condition and contamination controls.

Equipment distribution

Separate initial machines, wear kits and service documentation quantities.

Before asking suppliers to price

Pull type or self propelled?

A pull type machine uses an existing tractor and can suit a smaller seasonal workload, but tractor availability, PTO compatibility and wagon coordination become constraints. A self propelled option separates harvesting power from the tractor fleet; acquisition, operator training and support must then be priced for that configuration.

How are parts checked?

Send an identifiable part reference and dimensions, then request a drawing match and material or treatment information. A sample check may be appropriate for a wear component. Compatibility remains open until the buyer and supplier agree the exact host and revision.

What makes quotations comparable?

Use identical crop and throughput basis, working width or capacity, quantity, destination and delivery scope. Ask for packing, freight, taxes, commissioning and exclusions as separate lines. Do not compare a bare machine factory price with a delivered installation total.

Can I start without a budget?

Yes. A target budget is optional. If supplied, specify currency and per-unit or whole-order basis. Premium, mid-range or budget-friendly describes your preference; it is not a verified supplier grade. See the procurement checklist for a written RFQ format.

Put the harvest window on the quotation scope

Share crop and throughput basis, power and interface, moisture or handling target, wear parts and service documents, quantity and US destination. We review open questions before coordinating factory quote requests.
